Resting by the lake.
Welcome to Snowmass!
My partners in crime for the weekend.
Approaching a beaver pond.
The log jam was quite an adventure. It had rained on the morning we hiked out, and these were VERY slick.
A shot back over the valley we just came through.
The waterfall that dumps water from Snowmass Lake into Snowmass Creek.
And here we are! That's Snowmass Peak in the distance.
The weather was fantastic that day.
Making my way up the scree slope.
Finally at the top!
Lynn and I in front of the evil scree slope.
And the journey begins! At 5:30am.
The boulder field as the sun begins to rise.
Snowmass lake at 6:15am or so.
That's Snowmass Peak.
A waterfall to the right of the scree gully.
The sun slowly rises.
That peak in the center is our target. The plan was to use the summer notch in the ridge to it's right, rather than going all the way around the lump to the left.
Trekking across the alpine field. This would usually be covered in snow.
