This was actually taken from the car (while moving) on the drive into Wild Basin.
Another shot taken from the car...
There was a bit of snow at the trailhead. We were the first people in for the day.
Time to hike into the trailhead. At least the Warming Hut is open!
It snowed a bit during the day, but most of the snow that hit us was being blown off the trees by a slight breeze. I tried to capture a bit of that here.
Despite the forecast, the day appeared to be starting out quite well in terms of weather.
As the first ones on the trail that morning (or least since the last snowfall), we were breaking trail all the way to Ouzel Falls. It was a very different experience from our last snowshoe trek up here.
Applied a cold-tone mask to a rather boring and colorless photo just to mess aruond. I like the silver look of the trees.
This isn't exactly what I intended with this shot, but I felt this looked rather neat.
Just in case you need to tie up your ponies...
Do you see the horse? I'm not sure why it isn't tied up at the hitchrack.
Our first bit of climb. We were feeling it a bit more as we tromped through the powder.
Just ran this through the "convert to black and white" development tool in Lightroom. I think the results look pretty reasonable.
Our adventurers ponder the state of the forest...
Stop number 1! Calypso Cascades.
Enjoying a sit down in the falling snow.
And there are the Cascades. Which clearly are not cascading much at the moment.
There was a fair amount of snow on the bridge. In fact there was probably more than on our last visit.
We caught this rare glimpse of the secretive Lynn!
