Looking westward toward the mountains. Taken with the 70-400mm instead of my wide-angle.
Lots of noise in this one, since the lighting made this guy pretty dark. I tried to brighten things up to show some detail.
A Lark Bunting. One of the many hundreds of lark buntings we encountered on this outing.
My first real bird-in-flight shot, which was actually accidental. The little guy took off while I was capturing at high-speed and this showed up at the edge of the frame.

It happened on the 21st! Only at the Western Pawnee Butte though.
The trail up to this butte was closed due to raptor nesting.
I really didn't expect this particular shot to turn out at all. After getting it on the larger monitor at home, I decided I liked the lighting.

The two buttes really seem to come out of nowhere in the prairie. The windfarms are a more recent addition to the landscape.
