The nice green ridge on the north side of the Valley we approach Grays from.
The mountain just to the left of center is Mount Parnassus. We were going to hike that today. But the trail was closed. We went higher than Parnassus! So neener neener Mt. Parnassus!
Torreys, looking mean and angry.
Part of the Continental Divide.
This is a VERY popular trail.
Oooooh. Rock. Actually, this leads right onto the Continental Divide Trail, which follows the ridge in the background on the right.
Looking back out across from the side of Grays.
Slowly making our way up Grays.
The saddle between Grays and Torreys.
That's the whole ridge approach for Torreys. Note the patch of white rock just below the summit. That's the "knife's edge".
The route to Torreys from just below the summit of Grays.
From the summit.
Looking back into the valley we came up through.
From the summit looking north/northwest.
It's the eye of the tiger....
Torreys with some blue sky!
Heading back from Grays, finally back into some flowers and grass.
That's Grays! The little tiny spot slightly right of center at the top is the actual summit. This is just a big pile of rock.
This is where you pick up a trail to head up the eastern ridge of Torreys. Very exposed in places. One day I shall return to head up that way!
A slightly better view of the lower portion of Torrey's ridge.
Grays is on the left, Torreys is on the right.
The ridgeline on the way back from Grays.
On the way back the surrounding tundra turned red!
